Named for Eliza Cons, who came from London in 1888 to care for her injured sister Esther and never left. She became one of the most beloved and impactful figures in Bunbury's history, organising concerts, championing women's suffrage, serving on the Wellington Education Board, and founding the Sailors' Rest, which provided shelter and support to seafarers visiting the port for over two decades. In 1999, she was honoured as one of twelve women who shaped the Bunbury region as part of the Centenary of Women's Suffrage celebrations.
